Without a control group, it is difficult to make a clear connection between RC and reading growth in my TIP. This problem was compounded by reading inventories that seemed to have a high margin of error. Still, there is a loose connection between RC participation rates and reading growth. Students who had low participation rates (earning fewer than 42 points) showed no reading growth while those with high participation levels (earning over 143 points) demonstrated an average gain of 24 lexile points between October and February of the current school year.
