How Attitudes Have Changed

The 2nd survey results are in and there has been little change in my students’ attitudes towards reading after having used the RC system for over a semester. The percentage of kids who ‘love to read’ remained the same at 36% while the number who ‘hates reading’ nudged up slightly from 5% to 8%. Neither result surprises me. After a busy semester of working hard, some kids are a bit tired of all the work RC entails.

When talking about RC specifically, 56% of the kids said that they had ‘read some good RC books and now like reading more’ because of the system. Conversely, 15% said the system had made them enjoy reading less.

Hey, I like how you've depicted your data. I have yet to sit down and analyse the data from my surveys.

So, what data do you think you will lean on most? The interviews? surveys? test results adn related stats?

I bet it's advisable to focus on less, rather than more. Especially given that we have 4 pages to write about it. I think the temptation is there to see a ton of patterns/conclusions, and then talk about all of them! What do you think?

I agree less is more. Still I feel I need to focus on five key factors: reading comprehension growth, RC participation (number of quizzes passed), library circulation numbers, video interviews, and finally, survey results.

The surveys and RC participation will probably be the elements that factor most prominently in my conclusions.
