Above are the responses from 100 of my 6th graders regarding their attitudes toward the Reading Counts system and reading in general. This survey was given in September when the kids had been working in the system for 3 weeks. When I give the survey again in a couple months, I should have a clear picture as to how their attitudes have changed. My guess is that they are going to acknowledge that the system has made them read a lot more but that it has not created within them a love of reading.
